The Stone Angel Sessions & New Beer

Summer is definitely upon us. Long lazy days, stiffling heat, magnificent thunder storms, that lawn that refuses to cut itself, and cold beers. That time of year when your brain switches off and your thoughts are as shallow as Lake Manitoba. Is it too early to switch out the winter tires? What’s the mosquito count today? Why is there an algae bloom on the pool? Will the Bombers win tonight? Why does all beer taste 25% better outside?

To help you with your exterior-beer-drinking escapades (like Ice Capades only waaay better), we have introduced two new beers at the taproom. Available in flights, glasses, and growler fills, we, Stone Angel Brewing Co., humbly offer you:

Smoking Hot Blonde – Our tribute to Winnipeg actress Deanna Durbin, this blond ale is sweet, sultry, and spicey, with a moderately smokey flavour. This is exactly what it says on the tin with a backnote based on four different types of peppers.

Redhopped by Two – A sweet malty taste gives way to a pleasant bitterness, with notes of citrus and topical fruits from the hops. A very drinkable red ale, distinctly different from our Redhanded, with a pale ale sensibility and a nice hoppiness.

We’re proudly Irish, even if Irish Paul was politely asked to leave the country. We operate a “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on this but rumour has it, it had a certain Father Ted flavour to it. So when the chance to host Comhaltas Winnipeg every Thursday in July and August came along, we bit their hands off. Not literally of course, because then they couldn’t play. So mark your calendars (we did), every Thursday 7pm-ish for some proper traditional Irish music in the taproom!

We’re open regular hours this Saturday but closed on Canada Day! This allows us to generally hangout with our families and friends, drink beer, set fire to the tree behind the barbecue, burn the sausages, fall off the deck, and streak down Corydon at midnight, so have a great weekend! We will! And we’ll see you next week – unless we’ve been denied bail.
