Channeling the Irish traditions of bonfires and baked goodies for Hallowe’en. A rich Porter with a slight smoky flavour over a light fruity backnote. Samhain, (pronounced Sow-in) is the original Irish hallowe’en festival.
“On the darker end of the spectrum, not surprisingly, is the devilish Stone Angel Samhain Smoked Porter, which pours dark black with a deep brown head. The spicy smokiness is front and centre on the nose, with underlying dark chocolate and roasted-malt notes lingering beneath. That smokiness is accentuated on the medium-bodied palate, with roasted coffee beans and an almost savoury, meaty note to go with the deep maltiness. It’s made in a dry style and while the alcohol is only five per cent, there’s plenty of intensity here from start to finish.★★★★” Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson, Winnipeg Free Press
