Named after a German beer drinking monk, Luther’s Folly is a mixed style midway between a Kölsch and a Trappist style beer. Luther’s Folly is a light, refreshing, easy drinking beer. A hazy pale gold, the beer has subtle fruity yeast complexity, subdued maltiness and low bitterness.
“Deep-gold and slightly hazy in colour, this beer is described as being “midway between a Kölsch and a Trappist style beer.” Aromatically it brings doughy, floral, malt and modest banana candy notes on the nose. It’s pretty mellow on the light-plus bodied palate, with just a hint of sweetness that accentuates the yeast and banana notes and some solid malty and modest spice and bitterness on the back end. It’s an easy-drinking golden ale that’s quite accessible. Nicely done.” Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson, Winnipeg Free Press
