In the whiskey aging process, due to the porousness of the barrel, some of the liquor inside would disappear during the critical aging process. Because the liquid would evaporate into the heavens, it was dubbed the “angels’ share.”
We’ve always thought it was a great name for our efforts to donate back into the Winnipeg community. At Stone Angel, since we started in 2017, we have given back via brews, events and charitable sponsorships.
- Brazen Angel – a collab beer with Brazen Hall, a share of proceeds at our taproom were donated to KidSport Winnipeg.
- Mark Sheifele Golf Classic – we were a sponsor before we were even open, donating our beer and time to this golf tournament in support of KidSport Winnipeg from 2017 to 2019.
- Prost 2019 – our Oktoberfest event featuring a dozen Winnipeg breweries resulted in a big cheque to KidSport Winnipeg
- Angels’ Share beer – an annual project started in 2022 with a share of proceeds going to a different charity each brew
In addition we regularly collect donations of food and clothing for other great local charities through the taproom.
